FAQ

sdst FAQs
Is your product (sdst) effective against the Coronavirus?
• sdst contains the NEA recommended ingredients (Quaternary Ammonium Chloride family) that are proven to be effective against COVID-19 and similar strains of coronavirus.
• sdst has been tested against the norovirus (non-enveloped). According to CDC’s guidelines: “Product capable of inactivating “non-enveloped viruses (norovirus, rotavirus, adenovirus, poliovirus) are broadly antiviral and capable of inactivating both enveloped and non-enveloped viruses”.
• sdst has also been tested to be effective against the H1N1 virus (flu virus).
What is the meaning of antimicrobial?
Antimicrobial agents inactivates microbes such as bacteria, fungi and inactive viruses. This is in comparison to antibacterial agents that only combat against bacteria.
Is sdst safe for use around children and/or pets?
Laboratory studies have shown that sdst is not harmful to humans and animals. SUTL Environtech has been effectively partnering with various childcare centres since 2018, with proven success in reducing rates of transmittable infections with no side effects on children.
Does the sdst that’s applied to surfaces come off if I wipe the surface with soap/ water/ alcohol/ cleaning agents?
No, sdst does not come off even with repeated cleaning/ wiping of surfaces.
Can sdst be used on your body (e.g. to disinfect your hands)?
sdst was not manufactured with the intent of bodily usage. However it is safe to use on the body as proven based on laboratory studies. On human skin, it does not stick for 90 days like it does on surfaces. Depending on each individual’s metabolic rates and skin renewal rates, its effectiveness on skin can range from 8 to 20 hours.
How long can sdst last on fabrics and cloth?
Due to the porous nature of fabrics and cloth, sdst is able to last for between 7-10 days (with daily washing) when sprayed on such material, depending on whether machine wash or hand wash is used.
How does sdst compare against regular disinfectants and sanitizers?
What differentiates sdst from regular disinfectants and sanitizers is how it continues killing microbes (bacteria, fungi and viruses) even after drying. Other cleaning agents kill germs during the disinfecting process, but the killing stops once the solution dries, hence the need for repeated rounds of disinfecting. sdst is a unique agent in that it Self-Disinfects (i.e. continues killing germs on its own without re-application) 24/7 for up to 90 days with just 1 application. There are no other known ‘dry’ disinfectants.
How do I know that sdst works?
sdpro (the industrial variety of sdst) has been successfully applied across multiple commercial facilities such as childcare centres to combat against known transmittable infections (e.g. hand, foot & mouth disease). These centres have reported between 70-100% success rate in the elimination of outbreaks of these infections, versus pre-treatment data. sdst and sdpro share the same ingredients list but differ in concentration and scale of usage
sdx FAQs
Is sdx effective against COVID-19?
All samples of sdx at final concentrations from 2.5% up to 15% showed effectiveness against Covid-19 after 1 minute of exposure. sdx eliminates Covid 19 by 99.9999%. Using this widely accepted antiviral suspension test protocol, the test demonstrated that even the lowest concentration of 2.5% sdx was able to completely eliminate Covid-19 under one minute contact time.
Is sdx safe for the skin and to the environment?
The anti-microbial active ingredient in sdx is currently in the process of being registered by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It has demonstrated to be safe for humans and harmless to the skin based on laboratory studies. In addition, test data has shown that sdx is non-corrosive to stainless steel.
Do I still need to clean surfaces with sdx disinfectant if it has already been treated with your antimicrobial products sdpro or sdst?
sdx is a complementary product to be used with the self-disinfecting coating sdpro and sdst, as cleaning is still required if the surface is soiled.
What is the active ingredient in sdx?
